Source of Direct Contribution for Rutherford's House, Beth Sarim
by VM44 inthis is a question i have had for over 13 years, since i first found out that rutherford had a house, named beth sarim, built for him in san diego.
where did the money come from for the 100 acres of land the house was situated upon, and for the design and construction of the house?
in the proclaimer's book, it is said that a "direct contribution" was made for the house.

People who actually listened to Kingdom Melodies outside the Hall
by JimmyPage indid you know people like this?
you get in their car and the kingdom melodies are playing on prerecorded piano... you go to their house and there they are in an orchestral arrangement... even when i was a complete believer i cringed when i had to hear this banal crap!

I had to endure listening to kingdumb melodies as a kid during and after Saturday Field Circus... it was so depressing, especially on cloudy days...

JANUARY 15TH 2013 STUDY EDITION. ???????????????
by DATA-DOG ini have been skimming the magazine this morning, and the whole issue seems designed to keep the flock at the kh.
yes, i know this is not exactly " new " information.
still with all the problems the organization is having, this one just seemed to strike me as odd.

Jehovah will be with you in the months ahead...
Sounds like the GB 2.0 had a meeting recently to discuss the recent decline in productivity and decided to create an ambiguous motivational slogan to keep the dubs awake... notice how they didn't say "years ahead"...

Update on this lawsuit filed in 2005 (almost 8 years ago)...
It's been over 2 years since a federal appeals court in Boston finally ruled that all congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses in Puerto Rico may freely enter any gated community to peddle their literature and spread their teachings.
However, not much has changed. I live in a gated community in Puerto Rico and have confirmed that NO JW has even approached the front gate. Most of my co-workers also live in other gated communities and tell me the same thing. Wait... there is one exception... they have been in my neighborhood about 3 times in the past 10 years to hand out memorial invitations (and that was because an elder lives in my neighborhood).
So all this fuss about winning a judgement 2 years ago was just a brief marketing event that left the situation in Puerto Rico pretty much status quo...

The sooner you start scaring children, the longer they'll stay brainwashed. These sick bastards will stop at nothing to retain membership...

1973 versus 2013 (40 years later)... How much confidence have J-Dubs lost in the Slave's "End-Time" estimations?
by Calebs Airplane inback in 1973, when i was just a pre-teen, i remember that meetings in general were chock full of persecution talks, great tribulation talks and armageddon talks.
so much so, that there was a hightened sense of anticipation that the end was really just a few years away.
most j-dubs really believed, without any doubt, that freddy's estimation about armageddon in 1975 was a certainty (give or take a few months... not years).

Back in 1973, when I was just a pre-teen, I remember that meetings in general were chock full of Persecution talks, Great Tribulation talks and Armageddon talks. So much so, that there was a hightened sense of anticipation that the end was really just a few years away. Most J-Dubs really believed, without any doubt, that Freddy's estimation about Armageddon in 1975 was a certainty (give or take a few months... not years). In fact, many sold their homes to pioneer in what they believed to be the few remaining years of this old system. The few Dubs who really didn't believe this, probably had a later year in mind but certainly not any year after 1999. But I remember having my fair share of scary Armageddon nightmares after misbehaving in the school yard.
Now in 2013, talks in general rarely mention Persecution, the Great Tribulation or even Armageddon (probably not even 1/4 of how often these subjects were covered just 40 years ago). Lately, from what I'm hearing, talks in general have evolved into more generic stuff that other religions talk about as well... morality, family, etc... with the occasional "do-more/give-more" guilt talk whenever the numbers dropped..
Have the GB 2.0 finally realized that most J-Dubs today are no longer buying their "Armageddon is just around the corner" message anymore?
Have they finally realized that the Dubs have gotten wiser over the years (thanks to the information highway) and want to hear a different message? It would appear so...
The next 10 years will prove to be very interesting.

Special Assembly in Puerto Rico Coliseum to annouce Branch Closure
by Calebs Airplane inso, 2 weekends ago, my wife is showing an apartment to a potential buyer in the financial district of san juan and walks the buyer over to the balcony to show her the awesome views.
the buyer looks down at a crowd approaching puerto rico coliseum (aka jose miguel agrelot coliseum) and asked my wife: "are those jehovah's witnesses?
" my wife looks down from 19 stories up, notices the "pioneer pace" of the crowd and says: "yes.

Thanks Hoffnung... I guess a Special Assembly Day sort of lessens the blow and allows certain borg point men to disseminate the "official" white-washed version of why bethelites are being kicked to the curb...
Standard operating procedure indeed... They'll simply say something like: "Since THE END is quickly approaching, Jehovah has decided to simplify things so that bethelites can provide spiritual uplifting to congos in need"
(versus "Oh f**k!! More pedophile lawsuits when we're not even making as much money as we'd like? No way!!! Let's have a big sell off!!!")
But they always manage to land feet first, don't they?

John Aquila Brown ?
by eva luna ini was wondering if anyone has a pdf of the book,.

Eva... yes it is... this is what actually started it all...
But Anthony Morris III in the 2010 DVD "Faith In Action" makes this deceiving comment: "The fact that they (The Bible Students) were able to pinpoint that year (1914) is just phenomenal". No mention at all in this DVD about them plagerizing the 360 X 7 thing from John Aquila Brown...
